Great!

My first time here today. I had a cold and this restaurant was recommended by a friend for the soup they make. The pepper soup was every bit tasty as promised, and I could almost feel my cold going down. The ambience of the restaurant is nothing to boast of. It is a typical restaurant that caters to customer's hunger and their palate, so don't go there expecting to find fine music, or dainty paintings. The place was not congested, even during lunch time. You will still be able to get some parking during the lunch hour. The service was quick. The service people were courteous, they made some good recommendations, brought me some hot water for my cold, felt like home. Could do with a makeover, in terms of settings.

Taste : 3.5/5 ; Ambiance : 3/5 ; Service : 3.5/5 ; VFM : 3.5/5 Arasappar situated on the Anna Salai before nandanam junction is a quite old and famous restaurant on this stretch..been there for quite a while this was a regular spot for me about 5 yrs back for chettinad meals in this neighborhood...easy to locate with some basic parking can be a little tough of busy days... The restaurant is pretty old and the ambiance lacks the punch..nothing has been changed for years and hence the maintenance would seem a bit off..the So called A/C was almost non Existent on my recent visit..a table was quite wobbly and i had to change it...the service is quite good though...quick and courteous...communication though needs to be improved..They forgot the omlette that i ordered..which was only served after i asked for it... Ordered my regular Non - Veg Chettinad Meals...served on a neat good banana leaf...IMO having a full meals on a banana leaf is the best thing...Pretty quickly the kootu, poriyal, keerai, salt, pickle and appalam were lined out...the potato poriyal was really good my favorite and the cabbage kootu was decent too but the keerai was not that great...The appalam was all soggy before it even arrived on the table...The rice was well cooked and perfect...i usually like the meen kozhambu but here the mutton one was lot better than the other two and the rasam was simply mindblowing...tangy and spicy...The omlette i ordered as side was pretty average stuff.. Total came to 160rs odd which was nominal for the food served and its taste..the quality seemed decent too...but the only thing i felt bad was about the ambiance..the service too needs a bit of improvements...

Ordered chicken biryani parcel. They made me wait for half an hour. I was hoping it'll be worth the wait. When i went home and ate, it was tasteless. The chicken piece in the biryani was bland. And the guy at the billing counter is an inefficient moron. Wouldn't recommend this place to my enemy even!

Been to this restaurant a couple of times. Their Briyani is good and most of their south Indian options are good as well. This place used to look good back then but it isn't the same now.

Nithin has been changed in for the past 10 years. Food taste maintained at same level. Chetinad items are their best. Even the entry man remains the same. It's good to see when things remains as it is in a good note.
