Insane!

Bandra restaurants are generally groan-inducing on weekend evenings, with slow-concussion inducing music and loud crowds. 12 Union Park was a welcome change. Classy, understated decor, with surprising touches in just the right places.  We walked in early in the evening. My 6-year old boy wanted sushi. We ordered a plate each of ebi and salmon rolls, which were very well done. I wish they had a wider range of seafood in their sushi selection, but I guess local tastes are skewed towards chicken and vegetable tempura sushi. We settled into the appetizers. The cherry plum pork arrived steaming hot. The balance of flavours absolutely perfect. The aromatic chicken sui mai was as promised. Gently fragrant with a light infusion of herbs. At this point we walked up to the open kitchen and watched the maki chef work his magic at the sushi bar. Chef Sahil Luthra was on station, plating the sushi. On his recommendation, we ordered the buffalo tenderloin beef and shimeji paired with tepan soba. The tenderloin was a surprise. This is a flavour palate that I have not encountered before. It was light, flavourful and intriguing.  Take a bow Chef Sahil. And if I may suggest, add some nigiri sushi to your menu.

The staff are always very polite and accommodating. Mr. Satya, the manager is gem of a person. The service is always excellent . Coming to the food, one of my favourite restaurants in Bandra. With mouth watering dimsums and sushis, it is a must visit for all. The ambience is vintage with ambient music to lighten up your mood .

Avoid!

Clueless - is possibly one word that describes the 12 union park dining experience. Right from reception > water filling > offering the menu > order taking > cooking > serving > bill presentation! Not one thing right across the entire process flow, unsure if there is a manager or owner or anybody who will even ready this to take corrective measures! Cos I spotted none on a relatively busy Saturday night! So quitting writing! Over n out!

Went to this place for a Sunday brunch and without a doubt this place gives you a lot more than food. The decor is really nice and chic with hints of pink and teal going along with planters making this place full of life. The Edamame dumplings are just too pretty to eat. I would definitely suggest that you visit this place for a quiet time in this busy city.
